Here's my story on what happened on my mission.
When I woke up this morning, my entire body hurts. Hehehehehe! It was a very nice and challenging event.
Upon deployment, I was really nervous. But nevertheless, I tried to relax when I had the green signal.
I chose a very long and difficult route to the enemy camp. When I reached almost halfway to the enemy camp, I tried to check on my progress by trying to calculate (mentally) the ETA to the camp from my position. Unfortunately, the most unexpected thing happened---I got lost. Yeah, funny as it may seem, but I was really alarmed when I realized that I was really lost. It was the first time that I had played in the location plus I had no navigational aides (compass, map, and a watch). Da*n! So I radioed for help.
Me: Control (hangak/huff&puff), control (hangak/huff&puff), this is sniper two. Come in, control.
Control: go ahead sniper two, this is control. Report your observation over. (they assumed nga naka-establish na ko ug OP (observation post./they assumed that I already establish my OP)
Me: Control, (hangak/huff&puff) control, I have a problem. Sniper two is . . . (hangak/huff&puff) lost, I say again, sniper two is lost. Na saag ko(I'm lost).
Control: Ha?
Me: Control, control, (hangak/huff&puff) sniper two is lost. Asa man ni dapit ang campo?(Where's the camp?)
Control: Asa na man diay ka?(Where's your current location?)
Me: Naa ko sa kinatumyan sa hill(I'm here at edge of the hill (hangak/huff&puff).
Control: Naay kural diha, subaya lang na.(There's a fence near you..just follow it)
Me: Unsa nga kural? semento? barbedwire man ni.(What fence? Concrete? It's a barbedwired fence here)
Control: Ok, that's the fence. just follow it. directly below is the camp.
Me: Ok thanks, control. Sniper two going radio silent.
Funny as it may seem, but I was really alarmed when I found out that I was really lost. It's a good thing that I remembered to radio Control for help. hehehe! take note, I dod not bring along any navigational equipment (watch, map, and compass). It was one of my biggest mistakes. hehehehe!
I regained my fortune when I was given the correct course with the aide of Control and some observable landmarks (the barbedwire fence). I arrived near the enemy camp but doubted if it was the enemy camp since I have no clear visual on the surroundings. I decided to take a closer look. I went near the sand bags and took a peek. d**n. It was the enemy camp! I decided to ove to another location to establish an op when someone shouted, "hoy! halt!" d**n! I was found! I ran like hell while the very enthusiastic opforces were pursuing me and barking orders to their comrades over the radio. I immediately stopped running, ducked, and went down low on the ground. I stopped moving and listened for any other movements. I could hear voices and footsteps of people searching the bushes. I estimated that at least three patrols were now lively searching for me. d**n, I decided to move really slow by snake crawling and dragging my rifle behind me. I paused near a GI sheet to take a minute rest when I heard footsteps closing in on my direction. I crawled again really slowly to another position near a nearby GI sheet surrounded by low bushes. I was about to move farther away when I realized that they were really close (just a few feet on my right side). I crouched, clutched on my dear rifle, and prayed that they won't look down. When I heared that they were given an order to regroup at their base camp, I waited for them to go back to thier base before I went on the move again. Inch by inch, I crawled towards what I perceived to be a good firing position. I radioed for authorization to strike. But when I was given a green signal, heat and exhaustion started to consume every inch of my body. My rifle felt like it weighed a ton. I started to fix my scope on my target when I was spotted (si hermits siguro japon ang naka spot nako/Probably it's Hermits who spotted me again.). (Dam*!) I aimed my rifle at the opforce going at my direction but remembered that we were not allowed to shoot back. I reflected on what to do. should I run away and hide again? No. I am too exhausted and dehydrated to do that. So I just lay down and declared to myself that resistance is futile. When I finally got surrounded and tagged, it was like my ticket to liberation. I am free to drink water again.
